Google Chromecast

I am here today to tell you all about the Google Chromecast.I have been wanting to get one for awhile now after seeing my moms. So the wonderful woman bought me one for Christmas hehe! :) Thanks mom! This is such a awesome piece of technology. Its come in very handy for me and my family.

We no longer subscribe to cable t.v because I have found other ways to watch television and movies with out having to pay a huge bill to Comcast every month. When we moved last September we had to switch providers. So I signed up with Comcast and my first bill was close to $500! Pffff.. I DON'T THINK SO!  They charged me a $150 deposit when it was only supposed to be $100 PLUS all these extra fees that were supposed to be waived because they messed up and didn't come the first 2 times to install everything like they were supposed to. But all thats beside the point lol. I get carried away just thinking that situation. This Chromecast has really helped us with that.

So what is it you wonder? (Your living under a rock if you haven't heard of it!)

Official description from Google

"

"Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on your TV. Simply use an Android phone, tablet, iPhone®, iPad®, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook to cast your favorite entertainment and apps right to the big screen."

With Chromecast, your phone is your personalized remote control. Use the apps you know and love on your phone to search and browse, play, pause, rewind, control the volume and even make playlists. While casting, you’re free to use your phone for other things.

Everything you love, now on your TV

Chromecast works with a growing number of apps, including Netflix, HBO GO, YouTube, WatchESPN & Pandora. Find your favorite apps and discover more at chromecast.com/apps

For everything else, you can mirror what you see on the small screen to the big screen. If you’re on your laptop, you can cast any website in Chrome; and from your Android phone or tablet, you can mirror your screen to the TV.

Cast the web to your TV

Surfing the web on your laptop? Whatever you’re listening to or watching -- you can cast it straight from your Windows, Mac, or Chromebook directly to the TV. To cast from your laptop, just add the Google Cast extension to your Chrome browser.

When you're not casting, you can turn your TV screen into a beautiful backdrop filled with artwork, personal photos, satellite imagery and more. Learn how to set up this feature at chromecast.com/backdrop

Your friends and family can cast to the TV using their own phone or tablet, too - with no additional set-up required. Everyone can sit back and enjoy together on the biggest screen in the home.

Right out of the box the Chromecast is super easy to setup. You do not have to be a computer or tech whiz to get this baby up and going. Its plug and play at its best! You Box includes (1) of each of these; Chromecast, HDMI extender, USB power cable, and power adapter. No remote is needed. You phone, tablet, computer is the remote. Plug it in to one of your HDMI ports, plug into a power outlet, turn your tv on, set the right channel, and everything else is a breeze. Google is really great at making things like this as simple as possible for its users. Once you got it hooked up right... The initial setup is pretty simple. Your are guided through each step. I love the backdrop feature too. It hooks in to your pictures through Google Photos and you can choose which are to be displayed on your t.v. I love displaying my pictures when im not watching a movie or television. I have thousands of pictures and its a really neat way to put them to use. There are tons of apps available now for the Chromecast.  If you enter into an app that is compatible then you will see the Chromecast icon in the corner of the screen. My sons love using the Chromecast to mirror their cellphone screens when they are playing games. They think its really cool. Im guilty of doing it too when I play Game Of Thrones from Tell Tale. You can do so many neato things with this baby. Best of all in my opinion is how inexpensive it is! You can find them for as low as $20 sometimes.  You get a great quality streaming media device and it wont break your budget.
